Obituary

Yolanda Violet Romero was a remarkable woman whose life was devoted to God, family, and her work. Born on October 10, 1928, in Brawley, California, she passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Montebello, California, surrounded by her children and family. Yolanda was a proud business owner who ran a successful clothing boutique on Beverly Boulevard and took great pride in serving her community. During her lifetime, she and her husband proudly owned several residential and commercial properties, reflecting her wise financial stewardship, steady determination, and the enduring legacy built through thoughtful real estate investments.

She was a gentle, loving, and compassionate spirit, and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her. A true peacemaker, confidant, and empathetic listener, she carried herself with grace and warmth, always offering comfort, kindness, and a calm heart to those around her. She was a woman ahead of her time — a trailblazer and visionary who lived with purpose, strength, and quiet determination. Yolanda was innovative and resourceful, leaving behind the example of a life well lived and faithfully devoted.

Her love language was found in the way she cared for others, and through her home cooking of delicious meals, she had exceptional culinary gifts and always welcomed family, neighbors, church members, and friends to a table that was always open and full of love. Yolanda loved to sing while she cleaned and cooked, filling her home with music, joy, and warmth. She also baked cakes, cookies, and fancy desserts that any baker would envy, and during the holidays, she made her famous tamales, lasagna, spaghetti sauce, prime rib, turkey, enchiladas, and the best flour tortillas and beans.

Over her lifetime, Momma Romero cooked and fed thousands in the church and in her home. She held women’s Bible studies in her home that eventually spilled out into the backyard, and her doors were always open. Whether feeding one person or many, she gave freely from her heart. Her home was made beautiful by her green thumb, and she loved being in her garden with all the birds, which she tended to with care and tenderness.
Her uniquely beautiful laugh always filled the air, and when her children were younger, Momma’s laughter could be heard up the block so they knew where to find her. Yolanda’s laugh was contagious, leaving a lasting imprint on her children and everyone who heard it. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, prayer, and love.

Yolanda is survived by her older sister, Norma Collosi, her beloved children, Rene Romero, Cynthia Romero Deslarzes, and Vivian Romero; her grandchildren, Anissa Romero Fiore, Rob Romero, Jennifer Rodzianko, Joshua Boyd, Robert Romero, Ashley Romero, Isabella Fiore, and Jonathan Fiore. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramiro Roy Romero, and her son, Robert Nathan Romero. Their memories remain deeply woven into her story and in the hearts of those who loved her.

Yolanda leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, and grace that will never be forgotten. Her life is a gift, and her memory continues to live on in the hearts of everyone who loved her. Beautiful, sweet Momma, we love you to infinity and beyond… you are only out of our sight until we meet again in heaven… till then, we still hear you saying after every meal, “Where’s the postre?”
