With heavy hearts and in loving remembrance, we announce the passing of STEVE EDWARD MONREAL on August 9, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Los Angeles, California. Born on February 21, 1986, in Los Angeles, Steve was the pride and joy of his family, growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture and spirit of the city he would always call home.

Steve is survived by his devoted father, Ricardo Luis Monreal, his loving mother, Concepcion Monreal, and his cherished brothers, Chris Monreal and Richard Monreal. His family offered him unwavering support, encouragement, and love throughout his life, and he returned that affection tenfold. Steve was a beloved son and brother who inspired those closest to him through his warmth, determination, and kindness.

A gifted athlete, Steve distinguished himself early on as a standout basketball player, his passion for the sport evident to all who watched him play. His talent and hard work led him to a remarkable career as a professional basketball player, where he competed for ten years in Mexico. During his decade-long career, Steve’s talent, dedication, and sportsmanship earned him admiration on and off the court. He formed meaningful friendships with teammates, created lasting memories, and became a role model for aspiring athletes. Steve’s commitment to excellence and camaraderie helped shape his character, leaving a legacy of resilience and integrity.

Beyond basketball, Steve’s spirit was marked by loyalty and generosity. Friends and family remember him as someone who brought people together, who offered encouragement and wise counsel, and who approached every challenge with determination and heart.

Steve’s life was one of perseverance and achievement, fueled by the love of his family and the joy he found in his passions. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the lives of all those who knew and loved him.

A visitation to honor Steve’s life will be held on August 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service, located at 1316 W Whittier Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640. A Mass will take place on August 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 532 South Atlantic Boulevard, East Los Angeles, CA 90022. Following the services, Steve will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 Potrero Grande Drive, Rosemead, CA 91770.

Steve Edward Monreal’s legacy of kindness, athletic achievement, and devoted family ties will remain in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. May he rest in peace.
