Peter Ortega, of West Covina, California, passed away on September 6, 2026, in West Covina at the age of 49. He was born on July 27, 1977, in Monterey Park, California.

Not one to shy away from his lot in life, Peter charged headfirst into the deepest, most turbulent waters. The first indication of a remarkable life lay in his determination to defeat childhood cancer. September 8, 2026, marked the 33-year anniversary of Peter’s successful bone marrow transplant. A gentle, yet intense juxtaposition filled his home. Hosting family and friends granted him the opportunity to share quality time in feast and fortune. His preparation in meals was as meticulous as his calculations of financial obligations and miscellaneous notes. A calm settled around him as one witnessed him shuffling through vinyl. One by one, distinct tones and rhythms vibrate careful calibrations of beats per minute. Melodic, harmonious sounds echoing from ear to ear. He reached fever pitch in celebration of world class goals. A loyal Blue, he proudly donned the Chelsea crest near his heart. He leaves us with, engrained in our memories, a smiling image surrounded by family and friends, gently intertwined, in his loving wife’s eternal embrace. We love you, Pete. May you rest in peace.

Peter will be remembered for the life he built and for the steady work he gave to his profession. He worked as an assistant editor in television production for 15 years, contributing his time and skill to an industry that depends on patience, precision, and dedication. His years in television production reflected a strong commitment to his craft.

Above all, Peter will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ortega of West Covina. He is also survived by his twin brother, Eugene Ortega Anorve of Rosemead; his brothers Mario Urzua and his wife, Cynthia, of Rossmoor, Luis Urzua and his wife, Michelle, of Whittier, Juan Urzua and his wife, Betty, of Boise, Idaho. And Tony Urzua and his wife, Anna, of Russia; and by his Sisters Blanca Urzua Vargo and her husband, Frank, of Upland, and Laura Contreras of Upland. Each of them carries forward cherished memories of Peter and the place he held in their lives.

Peter’s memory will always be held with love and treasured by his many nieces and nephews: Kaelan Ortega Anorve, son of Eugene Ortega Anorve; Brielle, Brandon, and Daniella Urzua, children of Mario and Cynthia Urzua; Ryan and Erik Urzua, sons of Luis and Michelle Urzua; Jonathan, Daniel, Isaiah, Ethan, and Elsy Urzua, children of Juan and Betty Urzua; Patricia, Tony, Nicholas, and William Urzua, children of Tony Urzua; Abraham Rodriguez and John Totten, sons of Blanca Urzua Vargo; and Brooke, Grant, and Logan, children of Laura Contreras. Peter’s love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of his family. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cirenia Anorve, and by his sister, Olga Lidia Urzua. Their memory remained part of his family’s story and is remembered with him now.
