Minnie Mae Brown, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in West Covina, California, at the age of 87. Born on March 24, 1938, in Drew, Mississippi, she carried with her a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Minnie was known for her unwavering faith and her love for family. She found great joy in attending church, where she embraced her community and shared her warmth with others. Her passion for fashion was evident in the way she presented herself, particularly her collection of stylish hats that became a signature part of her charming personality. Moreover, her love of gossip brought fun and laughter to her interactions, and those who knew her appreciated her storytelling and infectious laughter.
She is survived by her loving children, Caryaist Lightner, Hugh Haywood Jr., Diane Haywood, and Raymond Haywood. Minnie took great pride in her family and relished in the joy of being surrounded by her 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished immensely.
Minnie Mae Brown's life will be honored with a visitation and funeral service on January 5, 2026, at Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service in Montebello, California. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. The family invites all who knew and loved Minnie to come and celebrate her remarkable life.
