Obituary

Louis Lawrence Watkins passed away on October 12, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. He was born on November 12, 1936, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Fred and Mozella Watkins.

Louis was the youngest in his family and shared his early years with his brothers, Fred Jr., Edward, Alphonso, and Noble, and his sisters, Irene and Inez. When he was five years old, the Watkins family moved from Memphis, Tennessee, to Los Angeles, California, where much of his life would continue to unfold.

In the late 1950s, Louis enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country proudly. Over the years, he pursued several careers that reflected a wide range of interests and abilities. While living in Europe, he worked in Training and Development for a corporate company and also practiced as an acupuncturist. Later, after returning to the United States, he worked as an insurance agent.

Louis spent many years living and working in Europe, a meaningful chapter of his life during which he met and married Katja. Together they welcomed their son, Lawrence. Lawrence later had a daughter, Latisha, adding another generation to the family Louis loved.

He will be remembered with love by his family and close friends, who carry forward the memory of his long life, his service, and the many paths he followed through the years. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him, and may he now rest in peace, dancing with the Father in Heaven.
