Loredo Lee Atcitty was born on March 15, 1938 in Bluff, Utah. He was one of nine children to Aht-citty-yen Bega and Mary Long-John-bitsih. After completing his general education he attended a 5-year program of literacy and vocational training for masonry in Brigham City, Utah in 1956. Three months later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was later stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he completed training for the 101st Air Borne Division as a paratrooper.

After his military service, Loredo took part in the BIA's Urban Relocation Program, where he was sent to Los Angeles, California. While in California, he worked several jobs as a mason and met his future wife, Isabell Clah. He continued with several other trades, including work in the steel industry for companies such as Big Boy Steel and Kelly Manufactory. Loredo and Isabell purchased a home and raised their children in Los Angeles for many years. He eventually retired from the steel manufacturing industry but continued to work small jobs to stay busy until he officially retired.

Loredo enjoyed family outings and playing sports. He took part in several native organized softball and basketball leagues in the greater Los Angeles area. He also took pleasure in watching his children and granddaughter follow in his footsteps as they also played in the same leagues. Loredo's favorite past-time was watching black and white western movies and his beloved Los Angeles teams, the Lakers and Dodgers.

Loredo is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will be forever be grateful for his spiritual guidance, hard work, family dedication and humbleness. Loredo is predeceased by his son, Leonard Atcitty. He has 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Loredo also leaves behind his siblings, Gladys Atcitty of Grey Point, Utah, Aida Benally of Bluff, Utah, Bella Begay of Grey Point, Utah, Esther Yanito of Grey Point Utah, and Billy John Atcitty of Red Mesa, AZ. He is predeceased by his siblings John Billy Atcitty, Harvey John Atcitty, Lydia Atcitty, and Louise Mustache.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Christopher's Mission in Bluff, Utah. Loredo will be laid to rest in the Memories on the Hill Cemetery also in Bluff, Utah.
