Lois Stavneak, a long time resident of Montebello, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at her home surrounded by family, after a brief fight against colon cancer. She was 81 years old.
Born in Los Angeles, she attended school locally and graduated from Garfield High School. After graduation, she met and married Ed Stavneak, her husband for 17 years. They had two children, Ed Stavneak and Laura Stavneak, during which time Lois was a stay at home mom.
Lois was also active in the community and was a founding member of the Montebello Historical Society which, after many years, brought public tours to the Sanchez Adobe in Montebello. After a divorce in the 1970's, Lois became one of the first females to work in sales at Montebello Lincoln Mercury, often attaining the status of #1 salesperson of the month. Later in her life, Lois also sold furniture at Ethan Allen and became a member of the World Famous Magic Castle.
Upon retirement in the mid 2000's, Lois continued enjoying life by caring for her very special garden, attending walking tours, cruising to both Alaska and Mexico, and spending time with her beloved son, Ed Stavneak, who was her constant caregiver.
Lois will be missed by all of those who had the opportunity to know her and especially by her surviving son, daughter, former husband, and two grandchildren.
