John Richard Williams
September 22, 1931 — October 30, 2016
John Richard Williams was born September 22, 1931 in Alhambra, California to Merton Sr. and
Ruth (Wold) Williams. Dick was the youngest of two brothers. After graduating from Alhambra High School, and UC Berkeley, he married Janet A. Collister in 1953. They were blessed with three daughters; Karen, Sandi, and Cheryl. After serving in the Air Force, Janet and Dick moved to Temple City where he worked for The Southern California Gas Company for 30 years and was fortunate enough to retire at the young age of 57.
After the death of his first wife Janet, he married Jardine (Jeri) Lee Bessler Pesavento in 1972. Together, their blended family included seven daughters. Dick loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and golfing; but most of all he loved being with his family and friends. Dick loved to tell stories and had an infectious sense of humor. He was the "Rock" in the family. He gave everyone strength even through his passing.
Dick was a friend to God and he never turned down the opportunity to share his faith in Jesus Christ. He was a Deacon in his church and for several years Dick and Jeri ran the Care Day Program for the homeless at the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church. He loved his seven children, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, but his greatest love was his wife Jeri to whom he was married for forty-four years. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Merton Jr. and daughter Sandy West Pesavento.
His survivors are his wife Jardine (Jeri) Bessler Williams, from Palm Desert CA; daughters: Ellen Pesavento from Tiburon CA, Karen Williams from Fountain Valley, CA, Teri Pesavento Miranti from Mission Viejo, CA, Sandi Williams Luebke from Laguna Niguel, CA, Lori Pesavento from Portland OR, Cheryl Williams Hansen from Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren: Autumn Davis from Fountain Valley, CA, Derek Miranti from Kona, HI, Jana Luebke Wishengrad from Los Angeles, CA, Chelsea Hansen from Fountain Valley CA, Kurtis Luebke from Santa Ana, CA, Jordan Miranti from Laguna Niguel, CA; great-granddaughter: Chrislyn Davis from Fountain Valley, CA.;son-in-laws, Randal Luebke from Laguna Niguel, CA, Jason Wishingrade from Los Angeles, CA, Kevin Hansen from Santa Fe, NM and Micheal Miranti from Mission Viejo, CA.
