JOHN SAMUEL SMYSER, beloved Pastor and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, in Alhambra, California. Born on April 27, 1946, in San Bernardino, California, John dedicated over 55 years of his life to his unwavering commitment to church ministry, positively impacting the lives of countless individuals and families through his teachings, guidance, and compassion.
John’s pastoral career was marked by a deep passion for his faith and a steadfast belief in the power of community. His warm presence and heartfelt sermons inspired many, allowing him to forge meaningful connections that spanned generations. He exemplified the qualities of a true servant leader, always placing others before himself, and embodying the values he preached.
He is deeply mourned by his loving wife, Deborah (Debbie) Ann Smyser of Alhambra, whose partnership brought joy and support throughout their years together. John is also survived by his cherished children, son Scott Samuel Smyser of Chino Hills, and daughter Kimberly Ann Smyser of Bonney Lake, Washington. They were his pride and joy, and he took great delight in watching them grow into the remarkable individuals they are today. Additionally, John embraced his role as a father-in-law with open arms, welcoming Richard Albert Binder into the family.
John's legacy continues through his grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to his life: Autumn Ann Binder, Richard Jaxon Binder, Carter Samuel Smyser, and Harper Rose Binder. Each of these young lives carried a piece of his spirit and values, and he found immense joy in being an integral part of their upbringing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ione and Donald Smyser, who instilled in him the values of faith, kindness, and resilience. Their memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind, and their teachings lived on through John.
As we remember John Samuel Smyser, we celebrate a life devoted to service, love, and familial bonds. His presence will be sorely missed, yet his legacy of faith and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
