ISAAC MAURO Profile Photo

Isaac John Mauro died on Oct. 5th, 2025, at the age of 37. He spent his younger years in Provincetown, MA and St. Augustine, FL. He studied acting at Douglas Anderson School for the Arts, then left home at 17, and lived independently ever since, supporting himself with a myriad of jobs. He traveled extensively and lived in many places throughout the years, including Flagstaff, AZ, New Orleans, LA, New York City, San Francisco, CA, Philadelphia, PA, New Zealand, Bath, NY, and Burlington, VT.

He was an avid reader, and enjoyed writing about his many adventures, and encounters with folks from all walks of life. Finally, in Los Angeles, his lifelong struggles with severe depression and alcohol addiction brought his life to an abrupt end.

He loved his friends and family dearly. He was bright and charismatic, kind and generous. He cared deeply about issues of social justice, and brought his beliefs to bear in his everyday life, sharing what little he had with those around him who were in need.

He was predeceased by his devoted father Jason, who died suddenly this past January, his uncle John Mauro, and his grandmothers Lois Mauro and Nancy Freeland.

He is survived by his sister Phoebe Mauro, his mother Amy Freeland Mauro, his grandfather Joseph Mauro, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His eccentric sense of humor and warm heart will be missed by all of us.

“We are here on this earth to fart around, don’t let anybody tell you any different.”

- Kurt Vonnegut
