Jerry or Gerarde, grew up in a close knit community in Hamilton, Ohio with his parents, brother Dick, and a large extended family. While in high school, Jerry developed his skills in music and drama. He attended Miami University of Ohio, majoring in English and Speech, and spent extra time developing his love for acting as a member and later President of the Miami Theater Club. Graduating in 1957, Jerry then spent a year in New York before heading out to California to begin a 10 year teaching career in the Los Angeles Public School System. Jerry utilized his talents by teaching both English and Drama classes. Jerry then embraced retirement by focusing back on the arts. Over the next 27 years, Jerry played roles in feature films, television, theater, industrial training films, and commercials. At times he tutored students in English and writing. For the past 2 years of his life Jerry settled at Leisure World in Seal Beach and nurtured his musical talents by taking banjo and voice lessons, writing a few songs, and performing with musical groups within Leisure World.
