Ernie Terrazas, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on May 16, 2025, in Baldwin Park, California, at the age of 65. Born on June 15, 1959, in Los Angeles, California, Ernie was a dedicated and caring man who touched the lives of many.
Ernie's professional journey began as a general construction apprentice, where he honed his skills over more than 10 years. His strong work ethic and commitment to his craft were evident to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Schurr High School in Montebello, Ernie was part of the esteemed graduating class of 1977. He excelled as an athlete, earning the title of "Athlete of the Year" during his time there, showcasing his talents in football, baseball, and basketball. Notably, he had the opportunity to play minor league baseball in Mexico, a accomplishment that he cherished greatly.
Beyond his professional and athletic achievements, Ernie was known for his generous spirit and deep love for his family. His friends and family fondly remember him as a caring man who valued relationships and community above all.
An outdoor enthusiast, Ernie found joy in nature, whether it was by the ocean or in the mountains. Those who knew him appreciated his zest for life and his unwavering support in times of need.
Ernie is survived by his three sons who he loved very much, Andrew Terrazas, Philip Martinez, and Martin Terrazas; and his sisters: Lisa Terrazas Jarrard, Cynthia Terrazas-Hassien, and Rena Terrazas Garcia, and his grandchildren, Olivia and Roman Terrazas, whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest L. Terrazas, and his mother, Olivia A. Terrazas.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on July 19, 2025, at Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service in Montebello, California, starting at 10:30 AM.
Ernie Terrazas leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory will be cherished by all, particularly his family, who were fortunate to have him as a guiding force in their lives.
