In Loving Memory of Duke
Duke Warren Rivera was born on March 10, 1984, in La Mirada, California, and passed away on September 6, 2025, in Downey, California.
Duke was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, husband, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of everyone around him. He had a deep love for fishing, playing poker, shooting hoops, and—above all—spending quality time with his family.
From the time Addalyn was just three years old, Duke was by her side teaching her the game of basketball. Today, she proudly carries that legacy forward as a member of her high school varsity team. He also spent countless evenings practicing volleyball with Haylee after long workdays, showing his children that his time and love were endless.
As a grandfather, Duke’s joy overflowed with little Camila. He cherished their walks around the neighborhood, smiling as she “yelled” from her stroller. He embraced his role as grandpa with excitement and gratitude.
Duke’s love extended far beyond his daughters. He helped raise Christopher and Michael from the time they were just boys, teaching them life lessons that shaped who they became. He guided Christopher toward manhood, a path that led him to serve his country in the military. With Michael, Duke shared his passion for fishing, creating memories on the water that will last a lifetime.
Duke also loved spending time with his younger brother Ricky. More than just a brother, he was a father figure to Ricky—always ready with advice, quick to call him names in good fun, and sometimes frustrated with his car troubles. But at the end of the day, Duke always showed up for him. Their bond was strong, filled with both laughter and love.
He was also an amazing uncle to his nephews and nieces who knew they could call him at any hour of the night with car trouble—and Duke would be there, no matter what. He shared late-night 2 a.m. burrito runs with his nephew Jr., creating memories full of laughter and love. Beyond family, Duke was a true friend to all, treating everyone he met with kindness, respect, and genuine care. His caring, loving soul left an impression on everyone who crossed his path.
In April 2019, Duke experienced two of the most meaningful moments of his life. On April 20, he married the love of his life, Tatiana. She was, and always will be, the love of his life. Duke worked tirelessly to provide for her and her children, giving them everything he could and pouring his heart into being the husband and father they needed. The very next day, on April 21, Duke was baptized and gave his life to the Lord. These two days marked a beautiful turning point in his journey, forever shaping the man he was and the legacy he leaves behind.
A man of deep faith, Duke loved Jesus, worshipped with joy, and often sang Christian songs on Saturdays while cleaning the front yard. His faith was the foundation of his life, and while his absence leaves a deep void, we take comfort in knowing that Jesus called him home.
Duke was preceded in death by his mother, Izamara Rivera; his brother, Casey Rivera; and his sister, Twilla Gardea. Each of them held a precious place in his heart, and their memories will continue to inspire those who loved him.
He will be deeply missed, but his love, lessons, and laughter will live on through his family and all who knew him.
