Carolyn Olson Profile Photo
Carolyn Olson was born on July 27, 1934 to Howard White and Katherine Perkins in Oakland, Indiana and entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2015 in Lakewood, California. She was 80 years old. She was the oldest of five siblings; Bob White, Tom White, Danny White, Marilyn White Carr, baby David died just a few months after his birth.

Carolyn had a propensity of adventure that began in childhood. She often told stories when she was a young child spending time in the log cabin of her grandmother and grandfather. She talked about her early morning walks in the woods nearby picking berries, hunt mushrooms.
In her early 40’s she started the adventure of travel: Alaska, England, Panama Canal and no one was a stranger. She meet people on these trips who she continued to make contact with for years later.

Carolyn took swim lessons and learned to swim; she swam laps whenever she could get to the pool. She played tennis and took up swing dancing. She walked with the Sierra Club and made many long lasting friendships on those walks. And then there was Bingo!

Carolyn loved life – she couldn’t get enough of it. She was funny, she was kind, she was curious and she was a life learner. She learned all that she could through her travels, friends and the random encounters of strangers. She heard their stories and she told hers.

We her children and grandchildren will miss her and she leaves a legacy that we will spend our life to honor.
To learn from others, have fun, laugh often, never give up on those you love, be kind, smile and “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”. She now dances with the Angels!

Carolyn is survived by her 5 loving children: daughter Sarah Olson Slavick of Boise Idaho, daughter Victoria (Mel) Goeden of Lakewood California, son David Olson (Nancy Gonnzalez) of Seal Beach California and daughter Yvonne Cowan of Long Beach California. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Carolyn was greeted at Heaven's Gate by her son Richard Alan Olson who preceded her in death.
