Carlos Garcia Castillo, of Montebello, California, passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on April 27, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, and lived a life marked by dedication, pride in his work, service to his country, and deep love for his family.

Carlos was known for his strong work ethic and for the pride he took in a job well done. He worked as a mechanic for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 25 years, repairing school buses and serving the community through his skilled and dependable work. Those who knew him understood how much he valued responsibility, effort, and providing through honest labor.

He also served in the United States Marine Corps and remained a very proud veteran throughout his life. His military service was an important part of who he was, and he continued that connection as a member of the American Legion. His sense of duty and commitment carried through both his years of service and his everyday life.

Carlos was an alumnus of Cathedral High School in Downtown Los Angeles and served as an altar boy at St. Vibiana’s in Los Angeles. These early experiences reflected the faith, discipline, and values that stayed with him over the years.

Outside of work, Carlos found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved fishing, barbecuing, and gardening. He also enjoyed watching the Food Network and trying new recipes, bringing curiosity and enthusiasm to the kitchen as well as to the grill. These interests brought happiness to his days and created many warm memories for those around him.

Above all, Carlos will be remembered as a family man whose legacy lives on through many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Leonila (Larry) and Teresa; his sons, Carlos Jr., Daniel, and Armando; and by the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who continue his family’s legacy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vasilicia, and his son, Angel. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
