Obituary

In loving memory of Caren Ruth Brown, October 28, 1942 to September 30, 2026, Caren Ruth Brown, 83, of Sioux Falls South Dakota, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on September 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 28, 1942 to Lyle & Virgina Clark (Johnson).

Her life began in a farmhouse on the banks of Lake Preston, a few miles east of town in South Dakota. As a child, she attended a countryside school and grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and farm life. In 1954, the Clarks moved to Arlington, South Dakota, where she continued her education, graduating from Arlington High School in 1960. On February 11, 1961, Caren married Robert Brown, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned 63 years. The same year, they moved to Southern California to start a family together. Throughout the years, Caren devoted herself to being a caring wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother.

Her greatest loves were God, her family, and friends. Her deep faith in God was unwavering and the center of her life. She poured her heart into teaching and nurturing young children, serving as a dedicated Sunday School Teacher, Preschool Teacher, and Preschool Director. Her home was always filled with love and the comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal. Boy, could she cook! She had a special gift for making people feel welcomed and cared for. Caren also loved to quilt, embroider, and crochet, creating beautiful handmade gifts for family and friends. Her genuine care and love for others will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two children, Michael (Letticia Torres)& Eric, her two cherished grandchildren, Justin & Bryanna (Alan Mata), her four beloved great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Jacob, Aaliyah & Winter, along with her loving brother Ronald Clark.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, and her loving sisters Dorene and Pamela.

Her family finds comfort in knowing her faith has become sight in eternal peace.

A celebration of Caren’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Rosemead Church of the Nazarene, 2703 Walnut Grove Ave. Rosemead, CA 91770.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the church for food and fellowship in continued celebration of Caren's life. This will be an opportunity to share cherished memories and honor the love she brought to everyone who knew her.

The interment ceremony will be held at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, SD, at a later date to be announced.
