Obituary for Brian Scott Griffies Sr.

Brian Scott Griffies Sr, 65, of Downey, California, passed away on May 16, 2025, at Kaiser Hospital in Downey.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 18,1960, Scotty (as his family referred to him) enlisted in the Marines as a teenager and proudly served for 13 years. From there he worked many different jobs and ultimately spent the last couple of decades as an operator for Marathon Refinery. His true passion was anything DIY. There was nothing he couldn’t figure out how to fix or improve. His favorite pastime was tinkering around his garden and mancave, and the only thing he loved more was spending time with his loved ones.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, James and Joan, his big brother, Mark, as well as other loved ones. He is survived by his wife Olenka; his children Brian (Vanessa), Melissa (JT), Chris (Jenny); his grandchildren Brian III, Savannah, Liam, Griffin, Charlotte, Sienna, Bishop, and Serena; his siblings Sheryl (Nick), Sue, Cindy (Mike), Jimmy (Laura), and Laura (Kenny); and his aunt, Margaret Stanton.

Scott will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, dependability, ingenuity, humor, patriotism, and fierce loyalty and love for his family. He will be dearly missed. Until we can see him again, may his soul rest in eternal peace.
