Obituary

ANN STEVENS HARMON

It is with deep respect and heartfelt remembrance that we honor the life of Ann Stevens Harmon, a longtime registered nurse and former esteemed professor of nursing, who passed away on April 4, 2026, in Seal Beach, California. Born on June 15, 1940, in Washington, D.C., Ann’s life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family and the health and education of others.

Ann devoted her career to nursing, not only providing high-quality, compassionate care as a registered nurse, but also shaping future generations of nurses through her role as a professor at the University of Southern California. Her passion for excellence in her chosen field and her dedication to advancing the field was reflected in all areas of her work.

Born to George D. Stevens and Georgia B. Sauveur, Ann grew up in Virginia and graduated from the nursing program at Duke University – she was an enthusiastic Duke Blue Devils fan and loved watching basketball games. A master’s degree in nursing from California State University, Los Angeles followed. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William R. Harmon.

Ann is survived by her loving son, William S. Harmon, and his wife, Jodi Harmon. She also leaves behind two devoted daughters, Mary Ann Harmon, married to Michael Thomas, and Susan Rodgers, married to Travis Rodgers. Her legacy extends through her nine grandchildren: William D. Harmon, Layton Harmon, Amaya Harmon, Patrick Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Bobby Rodgers, Kelly Rodgers, and Michael Rodgers, each carrying forward pieces of her spirit.

Her family circle also includes her brother, George Stevens, and his wife, Fredi Stevens, along with a nephew, niece, and many cousins. Ann’s family remembers her as a figure of unwavering support and loving guidance.

Ann Stevens Harmon’s life was a testament to service, education, and family. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed travel, reading, crossword puzzles, chocolate, and new adventures. Her memory endures in the many lives she touched, both personally and professionally, and her legacy will continue through her family and the countless students she inspired.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution in Ann’s name to the Woman’s Club of Seal Beach www.womansclubofsealbeach.org or to Adam’s Camp, an organization that supports children with special needs: www.adamscamp.org.
