It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Altagracia Mendez, who left this world on June 2, 2026, in El Monte, California. Born on February 15, 1936, in Jalisco, Mexico, Altagracia lived a life marked by devotion to her family and community.
Altagracia’s journey from her birthplace in Jalisco to her later years in California was one marked by strength and love. She was a cherished mother and grandmother whose presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her. She is survived by her six children: Gloria Morales, Michael Mendez, Marie Mendez, George Mendez, Gloria Morales, and Noel Mendez. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Family was the cornerstone of Altagracia’s existence. She dedicated herself to nurturing and supporting her loved ones, instilling values of kindness and resilience. Her impact on her family’s lives has been profound and enduring.
A visitation to honor Altagracia’s memory will take place on June 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service, located at 1316 W Whittier Blvd, Montebello, California. Following this, a Mass to celebrate her life will be held on June 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in El Monte, California.
Altagracia Mendez will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and the quiet strength with which she faced life’s challenges. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we gather to mourn her passing and celebrate her life, we extend our deepest condolences to her surviving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. May her soul find eternal peace.
