Adelma Mafalda Hughes

Adelma M. Hughes, 87, was born in Udine, Italy on November 24, 1925 and passed away in San Gabriel , Ca. On July 3, 2013. She was born to Giovanni Nardone and Anna Modonutti of Italy. She survived the bombing of her hometown by both the Allied and Axis forces. She met her husband to be in her hometown married and came to America. Adelma had previously resided in Rosemead for many years.
Adelma had extensive training in hotel operations and management, although she chose to be a homemaker most of her life. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She loved to garden. She grew beautiful examples of her favorite flowers roses, orchids and chrysanthemums.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:45 am Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 4. She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. Hughes who was interred at Riverside National Cemetery in 1986. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 2:00pm at California Mission Inn in Rosemead.
Adelma is survived by her son, Raymond H. (Lisa) Hughes of Rosemead.
