MARJORIE ‘MARGIE’ MERLE VILLAPANIA (MCLAREN) May 20, 1940 – November 28, 2021 Margie (Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma) is best known by her family and loved ones as a person of determined strength, courage and independence. She lived on this earth for 81 years; raised a family of 4-children and leaves behind 12-grandchildren and 6-1/2-great grandchildren (One is on its way!). In her earlier years, Margie worked her way up to a quality control supervisor for ICN Pharmaceuticals and various cosmetics manufacturers. She also served as a Union Representative for many years. Margie was never without a job, and she retired after 45 years of continuous service. When her children were younger, she volunteered as their Pop Warner cheerleading coach and their softball coach. All the girls wanted to be on Mrs. V’s teams! After retiring in 2010 at age 70 and moving to Laguna Woods, Margie met Chuck Crumbly, the love of her life (he passed in 2018). Together, they swam every morning, danced every Friday (TGIF), and went on many cruise adventures over the years. Margie graduated from Clown College and became a professional clown known as “Sillie Millie.” She and Chuck (aka “Chuckles”) spent many weekends clowning, bringing smiles and joy to young and old. Margie was also an avid gardener, and she never tired of sitting on her patio surrounded by her many lush green plants and colorful flowers. She sailed through life, good times and bad, with a beautiful smile and a positive approach. She never complained, not ever (2-knee replacement surgeries, 7-cervical vertebrae infusions, lower lumbar laminectomy). She just worked through it. Even when Margie was diagnosed with brain cancer, her attitude was one of quiet resilience and determination. She took up the challenge every day with everything she had. It was her strength of determination that got her through her final year. Margie fought the good fight. She finished the race. She kept the faith to the very end. A bright and shining light has left our family, and we mourn this loss with heavy hearts; but we are also filled with so many wonderful memories of life with Margie. Three generations will carry on her memory, her story, and her life. “Grief never ends… but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.” Condolences for the family can be sent through our website.
