ANTONIA INEZ MUNOZ
April 20, 1935 - February 21, 2022
Antonia Ynes Muñoz was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She went to be with the Lord on February 21st, 2022 at the age of 86. Antonia was born on a farm in Cuba on April 20th, 1935. She was a middle child of six children. Like many children at that time and place, she completed the 6th grade and worked hard with her family on the farm. Antonia married Juan Benito Muñoz from a neighboring farm. Early on, he was attracted to her beauty and the fact that she did so well in school. They had four children, Maria, Margarita, Mercedes (Karl) and Marc. Antonia enjoyed her grandchildren, Christina (Derek), Nathanael and Grace, and her great-grandchildren Emily and Lauren. She has one surviving sibling, Alejandro "Tato" with whom she was very close. Antonia loved being a homemaker, creating delicious meals and sewing for her family. She also worked as a cook, seamstress and a caregiver for seniors. Antonia had a strong faith in God and was loved and respected by all who knew her for her integrity and kindness. She was active in several churches, her senior apartment activities and the Altamed/PACE adult day program. Antonia enjoyed sharing her faith and was a volunteer chaplain at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, for which she has several awards. She also enjoyed gardening, travel, watching Spanish telenovelas and listening to Cuban music. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 am on March 9, 2022 at the Downey Memorial Christian Church, 8444 Florence Avenue near Brookshire. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the church at DowneyMemorial.org or a tree charity such as Trees.org or OneTreePlanted.org on Antonia's behalf.
